Select Board · Meeting of March 16, 2026
Barre Select Board backed a $1.5 million water-main earmark and weighed renting unused Senior Center offices for revenue. The board voted unanimously to send U.S. Rep.
Jim McGovern a letter of support for federal funding to replace water mains on Williamsville and Valley roads, a project Town Administrator Melanie Jackson said has had engineering plans ready "for two or three years." Members also approved wage increases for police officer Robert K. Bolivar, to $29.66 an hour, and firefighter-paramedic Clayton Landry, to $31.83 an hour, and appointed Douglas Martin as a Zoning Board of Appeals alternate, barred from an Insight Meditation Society height matter over a family conflict. Jackson said an alleged DPW gas theft "is not a joke" but is a past matter.
No vote was taken on the Senior Center rental idea; the board asked to engage town counsel.
