Select Board · Meeting of May 12, 2026

Barre Select Board approved the 26-article warrant for the May 19 annual town meeting after reading it into the record line by line. The board also flagged two late budget corrections for the Finance Committee: a roughly $5,000 reduction tied to an outside dispatch grant and a $54,000 snow and ice deficit caused by an unbudgeted salary line. "I will just call this my error," the town administrator said of the snow and ice miscalculation.

Warrant articles include $75,000 from sewer retained earnings for a compact loader, $87,000 from water retained earnings for a pickup truck, a proposed 0.75 percent local meals tax, a 6 percent rooms tax, and a petition to abolish the town's Public Works Commission. The board voted unanimously to approve the warrant and to adjourn.
