BARRE — The Barre Select Board voted to let Town Administrator Melanie Jackson draft a stronger social media policy after a Finance Committee member's Facebook posts drew complaints, and previewed a new committee to review town finances. Jackson's proposed Government Structure and Cost Advisory Committee would include herself, a Select Board member, a Finance Committee member and two citizens, reporting findings after the March 1, 2027 town meeting; the board held off voting to authorize it. Chair Dr.

Maureen Marshall said "speaking as a member of a board or a committee and not fully providing all of the information to me is an issue." The board also reviewed a comfort dog policy for the police department, funded by a $10,000 annual Worcester County DA grant, approved a Spartan Race New England permit and liquor license for June 26-27 at Carter Stevens Farm, and authorized a $21-an-hour seasonal DPW wage for Joseph Currier.
