BARRE -- April 19, 2022, Barre Select Board unanimously elects Dr. Maureen Marshall as Chair following an extended debate over rotation customs. The April 19 reorganization also seated Mark Regienus as Vice Chair and John Dixon as Clerk in votes that were each unanimous. The discussion before the vote was candid: the outgoing chair argued that institutional knowledge of town meeting procedures and municipal process still justified continued leadership, while Marshall countered that she brought "way more experience" in open public-meeting forums, having managed large organizations with roughly 400 employees and a substantial budget. The board also flagged a backlog of unreleased executive session minutes, touching on the fire chief, union negotiations, and a former police chief, and agreed to work through redactions and release them, though no timetable was set.
