Select Board approves National Grid substation petitions
The Barre Select Board approved National Grid pole and underground conduit petitions for the Barre substation rebuild.
Select Board · Meeting of November 2, 2026
BARRE — The Barre Select Board approved National Grid pole and underground conduit petitions for the Barre substation rebuild. Reardon Hoffman of Control Point Technologies told the board that two manholes on South Barre Road moved to the east side after a DPW review, and underground work would not start before spring 2027. The board voted to close Washburn Road to winter maintenance, renewed the 10-year Chapter 90 contract and created a single Barre Commons Committee.
It took no action on a Thanksgiving "turkey trot," citing liability, and the chair read a first-year review rating Town Administrator Melanie Jackson "exceptional."
