Barre Youth Sports Association opens fall football registration July 1, with a new flag football program for its youngest players.

BARRE -- The Barre Youth Sports Association kicked off fall season sign-ups this week, with football registration opening July 1 and soccer registration already underway for the fall 2026 season.

YOUTH LEAGUES

BYSA is introducing a 1st and 2nd Grade Non-Padded 7v7 Flag Football program this fall, designed as a beginner-friendly introduction to the sport. The non-contact format uses flags in place of tackling and features seven players per side on a smaller field. Coaches hold USA Football Flag certification. Participants will practice and play twice a week; BYSA provides flags and shirts, and players supply their own cleats and mouth guards. The association describes the program's emphasis as skill-building, sportsmanship, and fun.

Fall soccer registration is also open. Families can register for both sports through the BYSA website. BYSA, founded in 1972 and a 501(c)(3) since 2006, serves more than 1,100 participants across seven sports programs, staffed entirely by volunteers.
