Barre Select Board Sets $15,000 Flat Fee for New Braintree EMS Coverage

BARRE — July 16, 2018 — Barre Select Board votes to set a $15,000 flat annual fee for EMS coverage provided to New Braintree. The board, meeting July 16, unanimously approved three actions overhauling an existing intergovernmental ambulance agreement: striking patient sign-off charges effective immediately, fixing the New Braintree contribution at $15,000 per fiscal year with a mandatory February 1 annual review, and extending the current contract under the new terms until a formal replacement three-year agreement can be drafted. Fire and EMS Chief Bob Rogowski told the board that Barre ran approximately 68 calls in New Braintree last year against an overall ambulance budget of roughly $80,000, making the flat fee "pretty close" to a proportionate share. The board also approved a special event permit for the Spartan Race at Carter Stevens farm on August 11 and 12, conditioning approval on organizers providing four portable restrooms on Common Street, and granted a common victualer and holder license to the new Oaks Ice House Pub on Summer Street.
