Barre Select Board kept its leadership intact and approved a $114,000 road engineering contract. Dr. Maureen Marshall returns as chair, Mark Regienus as vice chair and Richard Stevens as clerk after the April 6 town election.
Town Administrator Melanie Jackson rebutted online claims about Barre's 250th anniversary funds, detailing $69,993.72 moved to the general fund and a $12,866.01 account balance deposited into town coffers in November 2023, "it was not a person's name," she said of the account. The board approved the Town Farm Road drainage contract 3-0, a Cold Brook RV Resort entertainment license 2-0 with one abstention, and wage changes setting DPW foreman Dan Cassavent at $33.60 an hour. Stevens relayed a fire chief's praise for firefighters who contained a four-family building fire.
The board then entered executive session for collective bargaining, voting 3-0 by roll call.
