Barre Select Board Hires Two Officers, Sets Special Town Meeting Warrant Dates
BARRE — September 5, 2017 — Barre Select Board appointed two police officers and set dates for a fall special town meeting at its September 5 session. The board voted unanimously to hire Zachary Mardirosian at $22.17 per hour and Trevor McNeil at $20.57 per hour as full-time patrolmen, both starting October 2, and approved wage authorizations for six additional employees including Eric Walters as chief water operator at $24.53 per hour and Dylan Pond as a firefighter apprentice at $14.50 per hour. Chair Dr. Maureen Marshall led extended discussion about Seven Hills Foundation's residential facility, where the police chief reported responding multiple times per week while receiving delayed incident notifications, and the board agreed to invite facility leadership to a future meeting and explore forming a joint town-nonprofit committee. Three Community Development Block Grant mortgage discharges totaling $24,073.23 were approved for a property at 396 Summer Street. The board voted to open the special town meeting warrant September 12 and close it September 19, targeting a November 14 town meeting date to address capital planning items deferred from the annual meeting.
