BARRE — August 14, 2017 — Barre Water Commission unanimously promotes in-house candidate to chief water operator. The commission voted at its August 14 meeting to advance an assistant operator, identified only as "Moon," to the department's top operator position, calling the candidate "qualified" with a strong performance record; the department will advertise internally for ten days to fill the resulting system operator vacancy. The board also took an inconclusive update on a long-pending Main Street concrete sidewalk and water infrastructure project, described as roughly 700 feet of work running from the post office along both sides of the street; staff said at least three site visits this summer had been made without completing the work, most recently set back by storm cleanup. No completion date was established.
