Barre Select Board Unanimously Approves Cannabis Host Agreement After Year of Talks

BARRE — April 2, 2018 — Barre Select Board approves five-year cannabis host agreement, clearing last local hurdle for a wholesale cultivator. The board voted unanimously Monday to accept the community host agreement with a local cannabis grower identified as Dean, setting a 3 percent annual revenue share — the state maximum — for five years, after which the arrangement expires and both parties would negotiate fresh terms. Vice Chair Mark Regienus emphasized the end-of-term review should be "a complete revisit, not a guess," and board members were careful to note that a separate pledge to donate a vehicle to the senior center is not part of the formal agreement. The board also approved a seasonal liquor license renewal for Colbert RV Resort LLC, common victualler licenses for three local establishments, animal control officer appointments tied to Rutland's regional dispatch contract, and a special event permit for the Great Restoration car show; a $10,000 economic development planning agreement with the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission was tabled pending further review of deliverables.
