Barre Select Board Creates Marijuana Bylaw Review Subcommittee, Sets March Deadline
BARRE — December 17, 2018 — Barre Select Board votes unanimously to form a marijuana bylaw review subcommittee and mandate building inspector timecards. The board, chaired by Dr. Maureen Marshall and including Vice Chair Mark Regienus and Clerk Richard Stevens, set a February 28, 2019 deadline for the three-to-seven-member advisory panel to deliver written recommendations on bylaws that failed at a special Town Meeting in November — with a final draft targeted for the May or June annual town meeting before a state moratorium expires. The board also voted to require the regional building commissioner to file daily timecards identifying hours worked in each of the four member towns, a policy taking effect January 1 after repeated complaints from neighboring selectmen that allocations could not be verified. In separate votes, the board approved a wage authorization promoting Zachary Matterson to police sergeant, authorized a switch from the AccuVote to the ImageCast ballot-counting system, and approved all annual license renewals on License Index 1 dated December 17, 2018.
