Barre Select Board Approves Library and Seasonal Parks Hires
BARRE — May 8, 2017 — Barre Select Board approves three personnel actions and flags a cable contract review. The board voted unanimously at its May 8 meeting to authorize a library hire at $11.20 per hour and to approve seasonal Parks and Commons workers Phil Robichaud at $12.24 per hour and Marc McKenna at $11.22 per hour, all funded from existing departmental budgets. Board members then held an informal discussion about the town's cable franchise agreement, with one member calling the contract language "very confusing to read," and agreed to have a staff contact research the contract terms and any applicable timelines before the matter returns to a formal agenda. Members tied the discussion to a broader concern about lagging broadband infrastructure across rural western Worcester County.
